Courier service dispatching connected to e-shops

Courier service dispatching connected to e-shops

Web application

A courier company delivering for dozens of e-shops spends a lot of time retyping: orders from one system into another, delivery statuses back. For a regional transport company we built a dispatching system that fetches orders from e-shops on its own — and just as automatically sends delivery updates back. The dispatcher plans, the courier delivers, the system synchronizes.

The dispatcher sees all shipments in one place: where from, where to, which courier, what status and how much cash on delivery. Orders flow in automatically from connected e-shops on the Shoptet and WooCommerce platforms — and every shipment status change is written back to the e-shop, so the shop's customers see up-to-date information without having to call. Labels and overviews are printed for the daily delivery round, cash-on-delivery amounts are tracked per shipment, and recipients get public shipment tracking by code.

Technology

We developed the application on the Oidis Framework in TypeScript — a dispatching frontend with Bootstrap, a Node.js backend with a GraphQL interface, and a combination of MySQL for operational data and MongoDB for metadata. E-shops connect through the official Shoptet and WooCommerce APIs, preferring webhooks over polling. Labels and overviews are generated by server-side PDF printing, and the whole solution runs in Docker containers.

The brief

Every connected e-shop meant manual work: pull the orders, retype them into the records, then manually update the status in the e-shop after delivery. As the number of partners grew, so did the error rate and the time spent on administration. The company needed one platform that connects business partners automatically and leaves dispatchers only the real decisions.

The solution

We built a dispatching application with two-way synchronization: e-shops connect through their official interfaces and webhooks, so new orders arrive instantly and delivery statuses travel back without human intervention. Status mapping is configurable per e-shop — what one shop calls “dispatched” may be “handed over to carrier” at another. The system supports multiple organizations and courier groups with separate access, prints labels for the daily delivery round, and keeps an audit trail of changes for every shipment.

Key features

  • automatic order intake from e-shops (Shoptet, WooCommerce) via APIs and webhooks
  • two-way synchronization of delivery statuses back to e-shops
  • dispatcher overview of shipments with filtering by courier, company and status
  • configurable status mapping for every connected e-shop
  • printing of labels and daily delivery overviews
  • cash-on-delivery tracking per shipment
  • public shipment tracking by code
  • multiple organizations and courier groups with separate access

Results & benefits

  • orders from e-shops without manual retyping
  • delivery statuses return to e-shops on their own — fewer phone calls and complaints
  • one dispatching system for multiple organizations and courier groups
  • in operation since 2022 with continuous development
